General Tournament Information, Procedures and Rules

Rule Change for Approved Bats

SKSA rule change for age groups that allow lighter than -5 bats:

Bat manufacturers have begun certifying bats with a bat performance standard 1.15 using a new testing procedure. All bats that meet the new BPF testing procedures have a stamp affixed by the manufacturer in the barrel to handle transition area.

  • BATS WITH THIS STAMP WILL BECOME MANDATORY ON JANUARY 1, 2012. Bats with this stamp will be legal immediately, even if they do not meet the existing rule.
  • Previous model year bats that have a BPF 1.15 stamp anywhere on the bat will continue to be allowed.
  • High school level play (14U Select and above)  must use a BBCOR approved bat.
